About the event

The AHRC-funded Digital Skills In Visual And Material Culture network service will host a two-day workshop as part of its training activities on 6 and 7 November 2023, 09:30 am – 4:30 pm at the University of Brighton.


The workshop aims to upskill researchers and practitioners in identifying the best way to design, deliver and evaluate interpretative applications that draw on multidimensional media for dissemination and user engagement. The workshop focuses on stories in the fields of visual and material culture within Higher Education, Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums (GLAMs), as well as the creative industries.

Cost and Registration

The workshop is free, but we request that attendees register through Eventbrite. Attendees will need to bring their own laptops for the training, and please let us know if this is an issue at the time of registration.


We are able to offer this event without a registration fee thanks to our funding. If for whatever reason, you register and become aware that you will no longer be able to join us, please consider cancelling your registration, as this will help us avoid incurred costs.

Bursaries

Bursaries for travel and subsistence will be available for UK-based attendees whose remit is to research subjects in the arts and humanities at different levels, including researchers and practitioners working in GLAMs and the creative industries. The bursaries will cover travel (within the UK) and accommodation (up to 2 nights) to enable attendance at the workshop. All bursary applicants will have to commit to attending the workshop for the two days.


The application deadline for both the workshop and the bursaries is October 13, 2023, at 5 pm. To apply for a bursary, you need to commit to attending both days. Please send an email to info@culturedigitalskills.org before registering for the workshop, including: 

  • Your name, affiliation, type of organisation (HEI, GLAM, Creative Sector) career status (undergraduate student, postgraduate student, researcher, practitioner, other);

  • A short statement on the context of your research, including the research aims, methodology and timeline;

  • A description of how you plan to apply the skills acquired during the workshop;

  • A short statement on how you plan to share this knowledge.


All bursary applicants will be notified about their application by Wednesday 18 October 2023
