From Hands to Collective Space: Shaping a Shared Creative Presence Online

Learn about shared creative spaces for sharing craft work in this workshop.

Time & Location

30 Mar 2026, 10:00 – 13:00

Grand Parade, University of Brighton, 58-67 Grand Parade, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN2 0JY, UK

About the event

This workshop provides attendees with information on how digital spaces, such as websites and social media, can help makers engage and share data (e.g., videos, images) with broader audiences, including customers. Participants will learn about infrastructures that can support tasks such as marketing, skills sharing, and other relevant purposes, while having the opportunity to identify needs and use cases to inform the creation of open, trusted data-sharing systems rooted in community ownership.

The event is targeted at designers, crafters, and creative practitioners working in contemporary or traditional design and craft who are interested in engaging with digital tools. No prior experience in digital tools is necessary to attend the workshop.

The workshop will explore barriers to access to resources, digital literacy, and additional costs. These barriers might hinder makers’ ability to use digital tools as part of their regular design and craft production, documentation, promotion, and support processes, such as describing, authenticating, and promoting makers’ products.

The workshop is organised by the UKRI-DRI-funded DISKAH project, with support from Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding from the University of Brighton.
